Audiobooks on CD - New Releases

Audiobooks on CD
Here are the Audiobook on CD releases for this week, starting 2/28/2016:

#AskGaryVee by Gary Vaynerchuk
Showcases the most useful and interesting questions Vaynerchuk has addressed on his popular show. Distilling and expanding on the podcast's most urgent and evergreen themes, Gary presents practical, timely, and timeless advice on marketing, social media, entrepreneurship, and everything else people have been afraid to ask but are dying to know.
Above the Line by Shirley Maclaine
Her agent told her not to get on the plane. True, Jessica Lange and Demi Moore had signed on, but the male leads weren't even cast. The financing was shaky at best, more likely non-existent. The script had been re-written so many times she wasn't sure which version they were filming. And yet there was something about the film 'Wild Oats' that made Shirley MacLaine commit to the project and fly to the location shoot in the far-off Canary Islands. Against all odds, what followed was one of the most extraordinary, thrilling and paradigm-shifting adventures of the beloved actress's life.
All the Single Ladies by Rebecca Traister
In 2009, the award-winning journalist Rebecca Traister started this, a book she thought would be a work of contemporary journalism, about the twenty-first century phenomenon of the American single woman. It was the year the proportion of American women who were married dropped below fifty percent; and the median age of first marriages, which had remained between twenty and twenty-two years old for nearly a century (1890-1980), had risen dramatically to twenty-seven. But over the course of her vast research and more than a hundred interviews with academics and social scientists and prominent single women, Traister discovered a startling truth: the phenomenon of the single woman in America is not a new one. And historically, when women were given options beyond early heterosexual marriage, the results were massive social change, temperance, abolition, secondary education, and more.
The Gangster by Clive Cussler
New York City, it is 1906, and the Italian crime group known as the Black Hand is on a big spree: kidnapping, extortion, and arson. Detective Isaac Bell of the Van Dorn Agency is hired to form the 'Black Hand Squad,' but the gangsters appear to be everywhere; so much so that Bell begins to wonder if criminals are using the name for the terror effect. And then the murders begin, each one of a man more powerful than the last, and to Bell's dismay, the ultimate target may be the most powerful man of all.
Gone Again by James Grippando
Sashi Burgette vanished three years ago on her way to school. The night after the teenager's disappearance, ex-con Dylan Kyle was stopped for drunk driving. An article of Sashi's clothing was found in his truck, and a police videotape of his drunken explanation under interrogation sealed his fate at trial. Now, just days from Kyle's execution, Sashi's mother visits Jack Swyteck, doing pro bono work at the Freedom Institute, and delivers shocking news: 'Sashi called me'. The police dismiss the call as a cruel hoax. The State Attorney refuses to consider the new evidence, insisting the case is closed. The governor has already signed the death warrant. An innocent man may be executed and time is running out, unless his lawyers can locate Sashi.
Overload by Joyce Meyer
Joyce Meyer shows listeners how to become free from the burden of stress so that they can achieve God's best for their lives.
The Passenger by Lisa Lutz
Forty-eight hours after leaving her husband's body at the base of the stairs, Tanya Dubois cashes in her credit cards, dyes her hair brown, demands a new name from a shadowy voice over the phone, and flees town. It's not the first time. She meets Blue, a female bartender who recognizes the hunted look in a fugitive's eyes and offers her a place to stay. With dwindling choices, Tanya-now-Amelia accepts. An uneasy and dangerous alliance is born. It's almost impossible to live off the grid today, but Amelia-now-Debra and Blue have the courage, the ingenuity, and the desperation, to try. Hop scotching from city to city, Debra especially is chased by a very dark secret; can she outrun her past?
Prodigy's Cousin by Joanne Ruthsatz
We all know the autistic genius stereotypes. The absentminded professor with untied shoelaces. The geeky Silicon Valley programmer who writes bulletproof code but can’t get a date. But there is another set of (tiny) geniuses whom you would never add to those ranks—child prodigies. We mostly know them as the chatty and charming tykes who liven up daytime TV with violin solos and engaging banter. These kids aren’t autistic, and there has never been any kind of scientific connection between autism and prodigy. Until Now.

Here are the Audiobook on CD releases for next week, starting 3/6/2016

Sachs is forced to let her quarry escape as she jumps in to try to help save the victim. She and famed forensic detective Lincoln Rhyme soon learn, however, that the incident may not have been an accident at all, but the first in a series of intentional attacks. They find themselves up against one of their most formidable opponents ever: a brilliant killer who turns common products into murder weapons. As the body count threatens to grow, Sachs and Rhyme must race against the clock to unmask his identity--and discover his mission--before more people die.
The Travelers by Chris Pavone
When a woman with whom he has shared a harmless flirtation shows up at his hotel door with a gun, travel writer and food expert Will Rhodes discovers the real reason his job occasionally requires him to assume different names and deliver mysterious parcels.

Until Now.

Here are the Audiobook on CD releases for this week, starting 2/14/2016:

Leonard by William Shatner
Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner first crossed paths as actors on the set of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Little did they know that their next roles, in a new science fiction television series, would shape their lives in ways no one could have anticipated. In seventy nine television episodes and six feature films, they grew to know each other more than most friends could ever imagine. As much a biography of Nimoy as a story of their friendship.
Midnight Sun by Jo Nesbo
Jon is on the run after betraying a major crime lord.
Mother's Reckoning by Sue Klebold
On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked into Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Over the course of minutes, they would kill twelve students and a teacher and wound twenty-four others before taking their own lives. For the last sixteen years, Sue Klebold, Dylan's mother, has lived with the indescribable grief and shame of that day. How could her child, the promising young man she had loved and raised, be responsible for such horror? And how, as his mother, had she not known something was wrong? Were there subtle signs she had missed? What, if anything, could she have done differently?
No Cure for Love by Peter Robinson
Sarah Broughton has come a long way. She's the star of a hit cop show on TV. She lives in a beautiful California beach house. And, most importantly, she's put her dark past behind her, as well as her old name, Sally Bolton. No need for anyone to know about that. When Sarah begins receiving letters mysteriously signed with the letter 'M', she thinks they're from a harmless admirer, until her real name appears in the third letter. And then she finds that name inscribed in the sand near her home, next to a body. The message is clear: Someone is watching Sarah's every move. Someone so obsessed with her that he won't stop at just one murder in order to prove his love.
No Shred of Evidence by Charles Todd
On the north coast of Cornwall, an apparent act of mercy is repaid by an arrest for murder. Four young women have been accused of the crime. A shocked father calls in a favor at the Home Office. Scotland Yard is asked to review the case. However, Inspector Ian Rutledge is not the first Inspector to reach the village. Following in the shoes of a dead man, he is told the case is all but closed. Even as it takes an unexpected personal turn, Rutledge will require all his skill to deal with the incensed families of the accused, the grieving parents of the victim, and local police eager to see these four women sent to the infamous Bodmin Gaol. Then why hasn't the killing stopped?
The Opposite of Everyone by Joshilyn Jackson
Born in Alabama, Paula Vauss spent the first decade of her life on the road with her free-spirited young mother, Kai, an itinerant storyteller who blended Hindu mythology with southern oral tradition to re-invent their history as they roved. But everything, including Paula's birth name Kali Jai, changed when she told a story of her own-one that landed Kai in prison and Paula in foster care. Separated, each holding secrets of her own, the intense bond they once shared was fractured.
The Vatican Princess by C. W. Gortner
Glamorous and predatory, the Borgias fascinated and terrorized fifteenth-century Renaissance Italy, and Lucrezia Borgia, beloved daughter of the pope, was at the center of the dynasty’s ambitions. Slandered as a heartless seductress who lured men to their doom, was she in fact the villainess of legend, or was she trapped in a familial web, forced to choose between loyalty and survival?

Over the next 69 days, an international team worked night and day in a desperate attempt to rescue the trapped men as their families and friends, as well as millions of people globally, waited and watched anxiously for any sign of hope.
Bill Nye's Global Meltdown
Scientist Bill Nye examines the earth's warming temperatures through the prism of the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Ultimately Dr. Schwarzenegger encourages Bill to find solutions in science, and Bill heads to Silicon Valley to explore the ways technology companies like Google and Tesla are taking the lead in mapping out a clean energy future that can save the planet.
Black Mass
In 1970s South Boston, FBI agent John Connolly persuades Irish mobster Jimmy Bulger to collaborate with the FBI in order to eliminate their common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement while consolidating his power and becoming one of the most ruthless and dangerous gangsters in Boston history.
The Black Panthers - Vanguard of the Revolution
The first feature-length documentary to explore the Black Panther Party, its significance to the broader American culture, its cultural and political awakening for black people, and the painful lessons wrought when a movement derails.
Bonnie & Clyde
Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were the most famous criminal couple in U.S. history. Newsreels in movie theaters across the country flashed images of a pixyish Bonnie and handsome Clyde, turning them into the underworld's dark prince and princess of crime. In reality, as this film reveals, Bonnie and Clyde grew up in the slums of West Dallas and had little in common with their glamorous media images.
Criminal Activities
A group of friends reunites at a classmate's funeral, and stumbles upon a financial opportunity that's too good to pass up. But when the investment goes south, they learn that part of their funding came from a notoriously ruthless crime boss, and now it's payback time. They have one perilous chance to the erase the debt, and if they can complete the task they just might escape with their lives.
Everest
Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world's highest mountain, the film documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.
Girls - The Complete Fourth Season
In the fourth season the girls are tentatively edging toward maturity as they take on new personas in new worlds. As the season begins, Hannah leaves New York to attend the prestigious Iowa Writers' Workshop in the hopes of becoming a more serious writer, while confronting uncertainty in her relationship with Adam. Meanwhile, back in New York, Marnie pursues a music career while balancing her professional and romantic relationship with Desi; Shoshanna graduates and begins interviewing for jobs.
Jem and the Holograms
Small-town girl Jerrica lives an unexceptional life, until she takes on a secret identity inspired by her music. She becomes Jem: the bold, stunning and absolutely fearless global superstar! But when it seems that she may lose touch with the things that really matter, Jerrica and her band of sisters begin a one-in-a-million journey, discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden.

Straight Outta Compton
In 1987, five young men, using brutally honest rhymes and hardcore beats, put their frustration and anger about life in the most dangerous place in America into the most powerful weapon they had: their music. Taking viewers back to where it all began, the film tells the true story of how these cultural rebels-armed only with their lyrics, swagger, bravado and raw talent-stood up to the authorities that meant to keep them down and formed the world's most dangerous group, N.W.A.
