Saul & David . 1964 .
King Saul, requesting a conqueror to slay the Philistine giant Goliath, is amused when the child-servant of God, David of Bethlehem, answers his request. With the faith in God, David slays the giant and wins the love and admiration of Israel and the King. David becomes a great warrior for the King's army. Even though King Saul comes to admire David, the King starts to slowly lose faith in God. With the spirit of God departed from Saul, David is anointed King of Israel, thus begins a love-hate relationship between Saul and David. As the blessings of God fall upon David and he is exalted, Saul's fury rises against him in this epic tale.
Gambit . 1967 .
Starring Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine, Gambit is a delightful yet deadly game of international cat-and-mouse. The fast-paced caper takes off in Hong Kong where a dapper English cat burglar (Caine) enlists the aid of a Eurasian dancer (MacLaine), to help him in an elaborate scheme to grab an age-old artifact from the heavily secured palace of a powerful Middle Eastern tycoon. Unfortunately, the foolproof scheme begins to backfire shortly after it starts and the duo must pull out all the stops if they hope to come out on top.
The Blood Beast Terror . 1968 .
A classically told monster movie directed by Vernon Sewell (Burke & Hare), The Blood Beast Terror is set in motion when mutilated bodies begin appearing in the English countryside, drained of blood.
The Secret of Dorian Gray . 1970 .
A wealthy young man, Dorian Gray, is in love with an aspiring actress named Sybil. He is also in the process of getting his portrait painted by his ascot-wearing friend, Basil. When the portrait is finished however, Dorian complains that he will grow old while the painting will never change. On the same night, as if he has sold his soul to the devil, exchanging vanity for morality, he ends it with Sybil, and accepts the seductive offer of a woman whose party he attends. The next day, the painting looks slightly older. In horror and fascination, Dorian hides it away and continues a life of sexual experimentation. Over time, the portrait shows signs of aging, but he remains youthful as if fueled by his ever-increasing libidinal lifestyle; finally, he and Basil face the painting. The exceptionally groovy score by Giuseppe De Luca enhances the seventies milieu.
