Book Review: Aaaarrgghh! Spider!

Aaaarrgghh! Spider!
Lydia Monks
Children's Picture Book

It's really lonely being a spider. This is the story of a friendly spider whose dream is to be a family pet. She tries to make her dream come true by showing a family how much more appealing she is than their other pets. After all, how many dogs and cats can bathe and feed themselves like she can? Sadly, each of her efforts ends with the family shouting, "Aaaarrgghh! Spider!" and kicking her out of the house.

Will this lovable spider ever be able to win over the family of her dreams and become their pet? Find out in this humorous tale that will have preschoolers and young school-age children shouting along with the story. The repetition provides an excellent opportunity to engage young children and make the story interactive, while the bold illustrations and a sparkly surprise make the pages burst to life.

Enjoy reading Aaaarrgghh! Spider! over and over again with your children, and take the opportunity to extend the story by discussing topics like spiders and pets with them.
