Save Money at the Library - Learn a Language!

Money Saving Tips From Your Library

With all that is happening in the economy today, many people are looking for ways to save money. Sometimes it is hard to let go of many of the things we have grown accustomed to having, but budget constraints have left all of us looking for ways to cut back. In the next few weeks, I am going to offer some helpful tips that will allow you to save money and not have to cut back on the things you enjoy.

Tip #4
Learn a Language
Have you ever wanted to learn a new language, but could not afford to take a class? The library can help you learn a new language absolutely free.

As long as you are a resident of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and have a valid library card number and PIN, you can access this electronic resource from home. Otherwise, you must use this electronic inside one of our libraries.

Simply follow these steps to get started;
1. Go to our web site at lvccld.org
2. Click on “Databases A-Z"
3. Click on "Auralog Language Learning"
4. Scroll down to the middle of the screen and you will see "Click here" highlighted in blue.
5. You are now going to create an account. Enter all the information asked for. You will create a user name and password. (This is NOT your library card number.)

After you have created an account, you can decide which language you will study. Each time you log back in, you will be able to start where you left off. You get to work at your own pace. This resource will keep track of your skill level, so you never have to start from the beginning. What is also convenient about this resource is that you can access it from home anytime, day or night.

How will using this electronic resource save you money?1. No fees involved. You will save on tuition expenses.
2. No driving to class. Driving to a class takes gas, but using this resource from home will keep that gas money in your pocket.
3. No fees for additional class are needed. Suppose you decide to drop the class and can’t get your money back? With Auralog, you work at your own pace.

Do you think this is a good tip? If so, just let us know. We are looking for ways to save you money, without losing out on the things you have come to enjoy. Make sure you check back next week for the fifth tip.
