Library Closed for Thanksgiving Day!

The libraries in Las Vegas are all closed today, to celebrate the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

The first Thanksgiving was celebrated in the United States (or, rather the colonies!) in 1621. The colonists and the Wampanoag Indians shared a harvest meal, which later came to symbolize the spirit of cooperation between the colonists and the Native Americans.

Harvest Festivals have a long history, and have been celebrated all over the world for as long as anyone can remember or record.

Visit your library (tomorrow when we're open!) and try some of these great books about the Plymouth Colony, and harvest festivals!
