Library Event - Grand Dérangement in Concert!

Come learn and watch as the Clark County hosts two events featuring the award winning musical group Grand Derangement!

The first event called Spirit of l'Acadie: Fiddles, Jigs and Reels, is a lecture given by the musicians and dancers from Southwester Nova Scotia, Canada. They will teach the audience about Acadian history, music and dance styles. Acadians are descendants of Canada's original French-speaking population. Originally settled in Nova Scotia in 1604 and ending up in Louisiana, this group of deportees became to be known as Cajuns.

Their musical influences vary from region to region – from Scottish music and French traditional songs to the sound of country, bluegrass and, most recently, rock 'n' roll. This music and dance will be showcased the next day at the Grand Dérangement in Concert! Event. This exciting concert will keep the audience on their feet as fiddles and step dances fill the theater stage.

I can’t wait to join in the excitement this weekend, and I hope to see you there as well… dancing your feet off!
