Amazing Reads

West Charleston Library Book Club
Meets the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Brave Enemies” by Robert Morgan.

Despite touching on several thought provoking topics (abuse, incest, war, morality) and Morgan’s prize winning reputation, this title was pretty middle-of-the road. It was good enough to read, with a few more than average flaws, but nothing big enough to generate any serious questions. Most of the time our group will have wildly varying opinions on the title, and we’ll have a ton of fun discussing them. This one we just agreed was okay, and after hitting the main points of interest, we moved on to what other books everyone had read this month.

This is a great way to get book recommendations, because since we’ve been meeting for (in some cases) years, we know already how similar (or dissimilar) our tastes might be, and can use that a guide. There’s also a lot of book-swapping and post -discussion discussion about what we’re reading or going to read. For April we’re joining the Green Revolution, and reading “Farewell my Subaru” by Doug Fine. According to one of our advance scouts, it’s a hoot!
